Privacy

Short version: Dropzy keeps as little as it can, for as short a time as it can. There are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics scripts, and everything you share deletes itself.

What we store, and for how long

• Shared text and uploaded files — until they expire: 2 hours per item on Wi-Fi Share, up to 6 hours in a Private Share, up to 48 hours in a Room. One-download files are removed within about an hour of their first download. Then the file, the text and their records are deleted. A storage rule removes anything left over after 2 days as a safety net.
• Files sent directly travel from one browser to the other and never reach our servers.
• Private Share is end-to-end encrypted. The key is the part of the link after #, which browsers never send to servers. We can’t read file names, file types, text or contents — we only see sizes and times.
• Device names (like “Blue Fox”) and the device type (e.g. “iPhone”) are shown to others in the same share while you’re connected.
• IP addresses are never stored. We turn your address into a scrambled code (a keyed hash) to group devices on the same network and to limit abuse. That code is kept with items you share, only until they expire.
• Reports and messages you send us (including an email address if you choose to leave one) are kept for up to 30 days.
• Usage totals — counts of uploads and downloads per day, with no personal data — are kept for 7 days to keep the service within its budget.

On your device

Dropzy uses your browser’s local storage for your theme, a random device ID, your device name and the codes that let you delete your own items. It uses session storage for text drafts and Wi-Fi connection codes, and temporary browser storage for files you receive directly (cleared after you save them, or after 2 hours). No cookies are set.

Who processes data

• Cloudflare runs the realtime service and stores uploaded files.
• Vercel serves the website pages.

Both may keep standard, short-lived request logs to run and protect their networks.

Your choices

You can delete your own items at any time. Clearing your browser’s site data removes everything Dropzy keeps on your device. Questions? Contact us.
