1. Open Nearby on each device
Open this page on the phones and computers you want to share between. Each one on the same Wi-Fi shows up here by name.
2. Tap a device
Pick the device you want and choose your files, or drag them onto it. Only that device gets them.
3. Save on the other side
The other person sees who is sending and saves the files. Nothing is uploaded; it all goes browser to browser.
Questions
Can Dropzy see every device on my Wi-Fi?
No. A web page cannot scan your network. Nearby lists devices on the same Wi-Fi that have this page open, and nothing else.
Why does my device show up as “Chrome on Windows” or “iPhone”?
Browsers do not share a device’s real name, so Dropzy builds one from what the browser reports. Tap your own name to change it to something like “Sara’s iPhone”.
Are the files uploaded anywhere?
No. Files go straight from one browser to the other over an encrypted connection. They are never stored on our servers.
The other device isn’t listed. What now?
Check that both are on the same Wi-Fi and that neither uses a VPN or mobile data. If they are on different networks, use a Private Share instead.
